ST. PETERSBURG, Fla — Roughly 260,000 people call St. Petersburg home, and 75 percent of them are able to walk to a park within 10 minutes.
In fact, those public areas are so widely available that it makes the city 17th in the country for park access, according to The Trust For Public Land -- a nonprofit organization devoted to creating and preserving the nation's parks.
The group bases its rating on four things: access, acreage, investment and amenities. According to the nonprofit's website, there are 168 parks in St Pete. But, it also identifies four areas that still need parks where people can walk to within 10 minutes. Those are in the northeast and central parts of St. Pete.
