Man's death ruled a homicide after body found in Tampa

The man was found with upper body trauma, according to Tampa police.

TAMPA, Fla. — Days after a man's body was found near a road in Tampa's Jackson Heights neighborhood, investigators have ruled his death a homicide. 

It all started just after 1:15 p.m. Saturday, May 4 in the area of North 34th Street and East Columbus Drive. Tampa police officers said they received reports of a man on the ground and went to investigate.

Once they arrived, police said they found the body of a man in his 30s on the ground. He had died from "upper-body trauma," police said Monday in an updated release.

Few details have been provided by police, who said investigators are in the early stages of the case and are "actively working to determine the circumstances that led to the man's death."
