ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. — The stars look much brighter for one Zephyrhills child who got to live out his dreams of launching into space – right in the comfort of his bedroom.
Make-A-Wish Southern Florida granted 8-year-old Amar Cook a space-themed bedroom makeover, satisfying his love for space exploration and science. Cook battles with a blood disorder, the organization said.
The bedroom is now a spaceship — blasted into the cosmos — complete with a rocket-themed bed and décor, and a place for Cook to conduct chemistry experiments.
With the help from interior designer Elizabeth Riggs, Make-A-Wish injected the room with solar-inspired rugs, curtains, shelves, toy storage, a wall-mounted TV, minifridge and neon lights illuminating Cook's name in blue Star Wars-esque lettering.
Nationwide, Make-A-Wish granted a record of over 17,000 wishes in 2022, according to its website.
