CLEARWATER, Fla. — "Star Wars" fans: If you and your partner have ever wanted to say "I love you," "I know" while dressed as your favorite characters and officially tie the knot, you're in luck!

May 4 is celebrated as "Star Wars Day" because it plays on the iconic phrase "My the Force be with you" and is the month the first "Star Wars" film was released in 1977.

In Vegas, themed weddings are commonplace, so it's not surprising you can get married by Princess Leia or maybe even Chewbacca or Darth Vader. However, if the trek from Florida to Nevada seems like a "galaxy far, far away," you can have a similar experience closer to home.

The Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court's Office is offering a "Star Wars"-themed wedding ceremony on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at its downtown Clearwater office.

"Couples are invited to join us for a celebration where love and the Force unite," the release said, in part. Couples are encouraged to wear their favorite Star Wars costumes to "add to the galactic atmosphere."

The wedding event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with 15-minute ceremonies. It's important to note the ceremonies are on a first-come, first-served basis and there are a limited number of spots.
