HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A man is facing multiple charges after allegedly creating computer-generated nude images of several people, deputies say.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says 18-year-old Sammarth Gautam was arrested on Monday after being taken into custody by the Lakeland Police Department.
Authorities say on March 13, three adults reported that there were altered images of themselves online showing themselves in the nude. The photos were derived from pictures on their social media accounts where they were clothed.
"This man's despicable actions will not be tolerated here in Hillsborough County," said Sheriff Chad Chronister in a statement. "I am proud of our investigators who were able to get this man off our streets and justice for the victims whose privacy was disgustingly violated."
Gautam is facing 16 charges for the promotion of an altered sexual depiction without consent.
The sheriff's office says he is waiting to be extradited to Hillsborough County from Polk County.
