Dog rescued from house fire in Hillsborough County

Officials said they got multiple calls from neighbors in Town N' Country reporting the fire early Thursday morning.

TOWN 'N' COUNTRY, Fla. — Firefighters rescued a dog from a house that caught fire Thursday morning in a Town N' Country neighborhood.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews responded to calls they got at 2:27 a.m. reporting smoke and flames coming from a house on Eldorado Drive. The neighborhood is off West Hillsborough Avenue between Town N' Country Boulevard and Hanley Road.

When the first fire engine got to the scene, firefighters observed "heavy fire and flames" coming from the home, according to a news release.

Crews started working to put the fire out and were able to get it under control in roughly 15 minutes, they said.

Firefighters then searched the house and said they did not find anyone inside, however, they did find a dog and brought it to safety. No one was hurt between first responders and neighbors.

An investigator determined the fire was started due to an "electrical" cause, the release said.
