Man dies after shooting, Tampa police look for who's responsible

Officers are trying to identify anyone who shot the man.

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa police are working to identify the gunman who shot and killed a man early Monday morning.

At 1:57 a.m., officers responded to a call reporting shots had been fired near the area of Julie and Diana streets, according to a news release. When they got to the scene, the agency said they found a man in his early 40s with "upper body trauma." 

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and died from his injuries, police said in an update mid-morning Monday. No one has been arrested and officers are actively investigating what caused the shooting.

The Tampa Police Department asked that anyone with information on the incident call the agency at 813-231-6130 or share a tip via Tip411, which is accessible through the TampaPD app.
