CLEARWATER, Florida — After temporarily closing for Thursday's storms, the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival will be back open for one more weekend of "sand, sun and fun."

The festival is set to reopen at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11 — and, luckily, none of the sand sculptures were damaged.

Even after losing a day, festivalgoers still have a jam-packed schedule of events this weekend to celebrate the Sugar Sand Festival's 10th anniversary.

In addition to the larger-than-life sand sculptures from world-class artists, activities include:

  • A butterfly exhibit where visitors can feed and interact closely with the insects
  • Free sand-sculpting classes at 2 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday
  • Fireworks displays on Saturday and Sunday nights
  • Speed sand demonstrations at 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday
  • Ferris wheel rides, games and activities
  • A kids' play zone, street performers and artisan booths
