Police: Two teens arrested for Westshore Plaza shooting, leaving 1 injured

Officers say a man approached them saying he was the one shot.

TAMPA, Fla. — Two teenagers were arrested as suspects in a shooting that happened Wednesday in a parking garage of the Westshore Plaza.

Tampa police arrested two 16-year-old boys for the shooting related to a narcotic transaction, according to a news release from police.

The victim arrived at the parking garage at 2:30 p.m. to meet the teens. Police said the two suspects approached the car where the victim was sitting in the passenger seat and tried to rob him of marijuana. When the driver began to drive away, the teens fired several shots striking the passenger twice.

The driver and passenger called 911, but when officers arrived, they reportedly found no suspect or anyone with gunshot wounds.

Later in the investigation, a man approached TPD saying he had been shot at the Westshore Plaza. He has non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver was not hurt.

The two teens were arrested later that day at their homes and face several charges including armed robbery, aggravated battery great bodily harm and carrying a concealed firearm, according to police.

The investigation is still ongoing.
