The Deeper Dive: The 15-week abortion ban is in place, for nowFlorida's controversial law banning most abortions after 15 weeks went into effect on July 1, but only for a few days. On Tuesday, a judge temporarily blocked the law on the basis that "it violates the privacy provision of the Florida Constitution." But, that was short-lived, too, because the state, almost immediately, filed an appeal. The appeal means the 15-week ban is back in place until a judge says otherwise. 1.
