Teen arrested, accused of murder in shooting that left father dead, son and girl injured

An additional person was arrested for aggravated assault in connection to the shooting, according to the sheriff's office.

DADE CITY, Fla. — The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in connection to a  shooting that left one person dead and two others injured.

Demetrius Roberts, 18, was arrested originally for delinquent in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, the sheriff's office said late Thursday evening. In an update Saturday, deputies say Roberts has now been arrested for murder.

In an update Friday, deputies said an additional person was arrested. Julian Zayas, 19, was taken into custody for aggravated assault after deputies said he threatened to shoot and pointed a gun at the person killed.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are still searching for answers and are offering a cash reward for information that helps lead them to the person responsible for the deadly shooting.

An 11-year-old boy's father died in the shooting Wednesday afternoon that stemmed from a fight between two teen girls in Dade City, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reports.

Roberts was wanted for delinquent in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon in connection with the shooting, the sheriff's office explained in a news release.

The 11-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl also were injured in the shooting and are being treated in a hospital with unknown injuries, authorities said.

The father, boy and girl were all bystanders in a fistfight between two teenage girls on Johns Road that eventually led to more people getting involved in the altercation, law enforcement described. Deputies say at one point, one or more people began shooting their weapons, which shot the boy's father, the 11-year-old boy and the 16-year-old girl.
