PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Pasco County Sheriff's detectives are investigating a decomposing body that was found in the Port Richey area.

Pasco County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Amanda Hunter said that the body was found near Embassy Boulevard and Richwood Lane Saturday afternoon.

Detectives said while the remains are heavily decomposed, they appear to be an adult female. Deputies are waiting to find out the cause of death from the Medical Examiner's Officer to see whether foul play was involved.

Hunter says the remains are not associated in any way with Brian Laundrie or the ongoing FBI investigation into the case, due to social media rumors.

More information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
