ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 23-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car Wednesday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened at Ulmerton Road and 34th Street. The intersection was closed while troopers investigated.
FHP said the woman was running northbound across the westbound lanes of Ulmerton Road at the intersection's crosswalk. A town truck operated by Tampa Towing and Recovery was traveling westbound in the outside lane of Ulmerton.
Troopers said the woman "violated the crosswalk control signal" and ran in front of the tow truck.
The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she died.
