Hurricane Lorenzo turns into a post-tropical cyclone

Hurricane Lorenzo was the strongest hurricane that's been this far north and this far east in the Atlantic basin.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Hurricane Lorenzo transformed into a post-tropical cyclone in the Atlantic Ocean as of Oct. 2.

The storm is still expected to bring winds and rainfall to Ireland and portions of the United Kingdom, however. As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, the storm is about 945 miles west-southwest of Cork, Ireland.

Lorenzo is moving northeast at 43 mph.

The storm has winds up to 80 mph.

There are no current tropical storm or hurricane watches and warnings in effect for the storm.
