A Hudson man is accused of firing a rifle three times in front of a Pasco County deputy who had just warned him not to handle weapons while intoxicated.
Law enforcement was called to an unrelated landlord-tenant dispute when a deputy noticed an intoxicated man with a "CO2 pepper gun," according to an arrest affidavit. The affidavit says the deputy told the man not to handle firearms while intoxicated.
At that point, investigators claim the man grabbed a rifle from his home, fired three times and said "I don't give a f---. I'll go to prison for the rest of my life."
The affidavit said two other people watched the encounter unfold.
The man, later identified as Ronald Lee Shimkus, 44, was arrested and charged with illegally discharging a firearm in public.
