WIMAUMA, Fla. — A man caught on a home surveillance video setting fire to a porch in Wimauma has been arrested, deputies say.
Deputies say the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. The video shows a white male putting a bottle with an unknown substance and paper wick on the porch of a home on Carlton Lake Road.
According to deputies, the suspect ignited the device, which caused a small explosion. He ran west from the home, and the fire continued to burn on the porch until a neighbor alerted the resident of the home, deputies say.
The resident came outside to extinguish the fire with a garden hose, deputies say, and about $100 worth of damage was done to the home.
Thursday night, Jeffery Tomko, 28, was arrested in Manatee County. He is facing an arson charge.
