ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — With the official start of hurricane season still days away, it's not stopping the tropics from bubbling up some.
The National Hurricane Center and the 10Weather team are keeping their eye on an area several hundred miles southwest of Bermuda, where a low-pressure system is forecast to develop.
Although the chance of development is not significantly high -- 30 percent during the next day or so -- the system could turn into a sub-tropical or tropical cyclone. The hurricane center says it likely will be short-lived should it strengthen.
If it becomes a tropical storm, it will be the first of the season with the name "Andrea."
The good news? It is expected to move off to the north-northwest and away from Florida and the East Coast. By Wednesday, it could start weakening.
