The man accused of shooting and killing another man in the parking lot of a Clearwater convenience store is due in court.
Lawyers are expected to discuss whether Michael Drejka’s past history can be used during a trial. It's set to start around 1:30 p.m. Friday.
Drejka is charged with manslaughter in the July 2018 shooting death of Markeis McGlockton in a Clearwater parking lot. Investigators originally didn't press charges against Drejka, who claimed McGlockton was stepping toward him when he fired his gun after an argument over a parking spot reserved for people with disabilities.
Prosecutors are looking to use previous confrontations between Drejka and other people, including an incident with a man outside the same Circle-A convenience store in Clearwater.
Drejka’s trial is scheduled to begin on Aug. 19.
