The right three lanes on the Howard Frankland Bridge just before the exit to Tampa International Airport are blocked to traffic.

TAMPA, Fla. — Crews have reopened a section of the Howard Frankland Bridge following an early morning crash.

The bridge's three right northbound lanes just before the exit to Tampa International Airport were blocked as debris sat on the roadway.

Two people were hurt in the crash, one seriously, when it happened after 1 a.m. Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A 26-year-old driver was believed to be speeding and under the influence when their car crashed into the back of another.

The impact caused the driver's car to flip several times, FHP says.

A damaged car was towed away around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Crews cleaned up the highway and reopened all lanes just before 7 a.m.

Traffic cameras show some traffic congestion on the bridge.
