HOLIDAY, Fla. — A Pasco County teenager walking home from school was mugged and robbed, and deputies are still searching for the people responsible.
“These four scumbags attacked my son,” said 15-year-old Geoffrey Lehman’s mother, Stephanie Byrd. “They attacked a helpless little kid. They’re going to attack anybody else.”
Lehman is still banged up and bruised after Wednesday beating, and he’s missing three teeth. He told detectives he doesn’t know the men who attacked him, but the whole thing was captured on a home surveillance camera.
“One of them ran, hit me, knocked me to the ground, they just started kicking me, pulling me and punching me,” Lehman explained.
He was coming home from Gulf High School, which is about a mile and a half from his neighborhood. He said not long after he started his walk, he noticed the guys following him.
He sent a text to his mom, telling her “People r following me.” She called him right away.
“He picked up the phone and all I heard was people attacking him,” Byrd said.
In the video, you see the two guys on his tail initiate the attack. The driver and passenger jump out of this pickup truck to join in.
When a neighbor pulls up in his tow truck, the four of them jump back into the pickup and bolt. Deputies said they made off with Lehman's backpack, phone and wallet with 10 bucks in it.
“It was horrible that I couldn't be right there to save him,” Byrd said.
Helpless, Lehman's mom found her son in the care of a neighbor in pain and bleeding. By then, the attackers were long gone, but they'd left detectives damning evidence without knowing it.
Detectives have the surveillance video and are following up on leads shared with Lehman's family on social media.
