Zig Zag Scallop employee in Hernando Beach tests positive for hepatitis A

The health department issued a health advisory to inform the public of an increase in hepatitis A cases in Florida and outbreaks reported across the country.

HERNANDO BEACH, Fla.— An employee at Zig Zag Scallop in Hernando Beach tested positive for hepatitis A, the Florida Department of Health in Hernando County said.

Health officials recommended vaccinations for anyone who dined at the restaurant between Dec. 1-3 that isn't also vaccinated.

The department is offering the vaccine at no cost at its clinic in Spring Hill.

This case of hepatitis A is just one of the several cases reported around Tampa Bay.

It includes the case at Hamburger Mary’s in Tampa, Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs and the Toasted Monkey at St. Pete Beach.
