Mountain lion known for crossing dangerous freeways found dead

The remains of 'The Culvert Cat' have been found in Ventura County, California.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- A mountain lion, who survived the Woolsey Fire and dozens of dangerous freeway crossings, has died, according to CBS News.

The remains of P-64, better known as "The Culvert Cat," were found this week.

According to the National Park Service, his paws were very burned. But, wildlife authorities will do a necropsy to figure out exactly how he died.

According to CBS News, the big cat was first tagged in February. In the nine months since, he crossed two freeways 41 times.

Researchers believe he leaves behind four female kittens born this past spring.

The Woosley Fire has burned nearly 100,000 acres of land and been blamed for at least three deaths.
