Report: Parkland father considers run for Florida house seat

Max Schachter may run for political office after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

A grieving Parkland father is considering running for a seat in the Florida Legislature, according to a report Friday by the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Max Schachter is reportedly eyeing the seat that opened up after incoming Gov. Ron DeSantis picked Democratic State Rep. Jared Moskowitz to run Florida's Division of Emergency Management.

As 10News has previously reported, Schachter's freshman son Alex was among the 17 people killed in the Valentine's Day shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Alex Schachter was described as a "sweetheart" who played trombone and baritone.

Fellow Parkland father Andrew Pollack, who has become one of the most high-profile activists after the death of his daughter, tweeted his support for Max's potential run for office.
