State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert will be nominated to replace Nikki Haley as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, according to multiple media reports.
Haley unexpectedly announced in October that she would depart at the end of the year.
Nauert joined the Trump administration in April 2017 after working as an anchor and correspondent at Fox News. She had previously been a correspondent at ABC News. During her broadcast career, she covered everything from politics to foreign relations.
She has long been interested in diplomacy. Nauert was once a term member of the nonprofit Council on Foreign Relations, which grooms young people for careers in government by educating them about international affairs and American foreign policy efforts.
Nauert has also worked as a health insurance consultant in Washington, D.C.
She holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Mount Vernon Seminary and College, along with a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University.
