1 person dead, another injured in fiery Polk County crash

MULBERRY, Fla. -- One person died in a fiery two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

One person died and emergency personnel took another to the Lakeland Regional Medical Center for treatment to minor injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash involved a sedan and a tractor-trailer. It happened around 1:06 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 37 South and Highway 640 North.

Crews will have to clean diesel and hydraulic fluid at the intersection.

The intersection is closed until about 9 a.m. Thursday, the sheriff's office said.
