ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Three people were killed and two passengers were seriously injured in a Sunday night crash on County Road 54 at Berry Road, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers.
The FHP identified the three victims killed in the head-on crash, which happened around 7:08 p.m.
• Elvin Michael Benitez, 30, of Zephyrhills
• Dennis George Wilkes, 38, of Lakeland
• Chrisstina A. Farmer, 27, of Winter Haven
Benitez was driving a 2016 Mazda westward on CR 54 and Wilkes was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry east, according to FHP. The FHP crash report said Mazda entered the eastbound lane to pass other traffic and hit the Camry head-on.
Two other passengers inside the Mazda were injured, according to the FHP. Farmer was the only other passenger in the Camry, the FHP said. The crash report said Benitez was ejected from Mazda.
Both directions of County Road 54 have reopened since the crash.
