Man dies after being shot in the chest at South Tampa McDonald's

A man was shot in the chest at a South Tampa McDonalds on Friday, Tampa police said.

The McDonald's is located at 3515 S. Dale Mabry Highway.

A 20-year-old man has was shot in the chest at a South Tampa McDonalds on Friday and later died, Tampa police said.

Police were at the restaurant at 3515 S. Dale Mabry Highway, which was crowded at the time of the shooting and found Nicholas Mortazavi with a gunshot wound.

Detectives believe the shooting was a drug deal gone wrong.

The suspect fled from the scene, and detectives said they are questioning persons of interest.

Mortazavi was taken to Tampa General Hospital in extremely critical condition and underwent surgery. police said. Mortazavi later died from his wounds, according to police.

No one else was hurt.
