Sebring teen injured after hit-and-run by truck pulling a trailer

The 14-year-old boy was riding his bike on US 27 when a tractor on a truck's trailer hit him and knocked him off his bike.

SEBRING, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol and the Highlands County Sheriff's Office is looking for information about a hit-and-run on involving a teen riding a bicycle.

Deputies said around 2 p.m. Saturday a 14-year-old boy was riding his bicycle southbound on the western shoulder of US 27. A witness told deputies that a large white Ford F350-style truck was towing a gooseneck trailer southbound on US 27 in the right lane.

The trailer had a green tractor with a field disc plow, which was hanging over the right side. The disc hit the boy's hand, causing him to be knocked off his bike and receive serious injuries to his hand.
