Driver badly injured when car smashes into back of bus in Pinellas Park

The driver of this car received life-threatening injuries in this Pinellas Park crash, police say.

A driver is in critical condition after his car smashed into the back of a PTSA bus Friday, Pinellas Park police said.

The crash happened about 3:35 p.m. at Gandy Boulevard and Grand Avenue. Police say a 2017 Honda Civic driven by Brian Hannum, 31, of Pinellas Park was westbound on Gandy behind the bus.

The bus slowed for traffic as the Honda moved into the right turn, and the car struck the back of the bus.

There were two people and the driver on the bus at the time. The bus driver, Yolanda Gibson, 54, of St. Petersburg, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries

Hannum was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
