Suspected gunman arrested in murder of South Florida rapper XXXTentacion

Michael Boatwright, 22, of Fort Lauderdale is charged with first-degree murder.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office arrested one of the suspected gunman accused of killing the South Florida rapper XXXTentacion.

Michael Boatwright, 22, of Fort Lauderdale is charged with first-degree murder. He's accused of being one of the gunmen in the June 18 killing of XXXTentacion, whose real name is Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy.

Initially, Boatwright was arrested on July 5 for unrelated drug charges. Detectives served Boatwright with an arrest warrant for first-degree murder while he was at the Broward County Sheriff's Office Jail.

Boatwright and Dedrick D. Williams are accused of killing the South Florida rapper.

Williams is also charged with first-degree murder.

However, sheriff's deputies are still searching for the second suspected gunman and Robert Allen, who is a person of interest. Investigators want to find out what Allen knows about the case. Allen, 22, is also wanted in Broward County on a felony warrant for violation of probation for possession of flaka and carrying a concealed firearm.

On June 18, the sheriff's office reported that XXXTentacion had been at RIVA Motorsports checking out the inventory when two armed suspects approached as he was trying to leave. At least one of them fired and both fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV. First responders took XXXTentacion to a Broward Health North in Deerfield Beach, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call (954)321-4210.

Broward Crime Stoppers is offering a $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest of the suspect. Tipsters can call (954)493-8477.
