After more than a day of searching, the missing soldier from Camp Blanding was found dead in a wooded area Friday night, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office (CCSO).
Specialist Calyn McLemore was reported missing after he did not return from a navigation assignment at Camp Blanding. He was supposed to meet at a rallying point at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
He was with the Alabama Reserves and at Camp Blanding for training.
Search efforts were immediately underway. Crews with CCSO, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Customs were looking for McLemore by ATV and horseback. They used K-9 units and air units, too.
McLemore's cause of death is now being classified as undetermined.
An investigation is still underway.
