Body of missing Hernando County woman found in Georgia

Georgia authorities found the body of a missing Florida park ranger floating in a waterway.

The body Mitzi Mari Babb, a Hernando County woman missing since Tuesday, has been located in southern Georgia.

Authorities in Camden County, Georgia, made the discovery Friday, according to a news release. A Department of Natural Resources helicopter pilot, in tandem with a Camden County sheriff's lieutenant, spotted Babb's body floating in a waterway.

Her boyfriend, who was previously named a person of interest in the 43-year-old Florida park ranger's disappearance, was taken into custody Thursday night in Hamilton County, Florida.

Investigators said Jeffrey Michael Morrison, 42, was involved in an armed burglary and attempted arson Thursday in Peach County, Georgia. Authorities caught up with him at the White Plains Agricultural Weight Station on Interstate 95, where he was arrested on warrants for both those charges.

Babb last seen around 5 p.m. Tuesday at her workplace in Brooksville.

"Ms. Babb's current whereabouts are unknown, and there are concerns about her safety," the Hernando County Sheriff's Office said in a statement earlier this week.

Babb is described as 5-foot-2, 100 lbs, with red hair and green eyes. Detectives said she was known to frequently change her hair color.
