More people are trying meditation apps to deal with stress.

TAMPA, Fla. – Stress, lack of sleep, anxiety -- three issues we constantly talk about with adults.

With an increasing focus on mental health, the use of mindfulness apps is exploding.

Meditation helped Susan Etheridge, who likes to go to Al Lopez Park to focus.

“It's a hard thing to quiet the mind,” she said.

She explained and showed why she believes her life is at peace.

“Everything transforms, your health transforms.”

Susan once lived the stressful adulting life. As a lawyer, she had lucrative clients that also came with another price: too much stress.

She says meditation saved her and believes everyone has to find it their own way.

That could include apps on your phone.

“Everyone has to find the techniques that work for them, the teacher that's the right fit for them.”

Calm is one popular app making waves with consumers. The company claims its valued at $250 million, which shows the spike in popularity for mindfulness apps.

Scott Anderson is a psychotherapist with his own practice.

“We hear so much negativity about our little wonderful cell phones and how dangerous they can be and that is true. But, there's lots of benefits to it, so when I see the health and wellness apps, I love those.”

He says there's misinformation out there about meditation apps. He believes they help simplify meditation and its benefits.

“Besides the relaxation, the lowered stress, the self-awareness, those are all benefits, but the physiology to it is what makes us feel good,” he said.

Etheridge says she goes to Al Lopez Park every day. Now, she has her own wellness law firm and a huge peace of mind.

She’s hosting a free yoga and meditation class at Al Lopez on Saturday, June 23 at 8 a.m.
