SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. - A crash on Interstate 75 involving a wrong-way driver killed two people Saturday morning.

All lanes of northbound I-75 traffic have reopened between Fruitville Road and University Parkway while the Florida Highway Patrol investigates. The stretch of the interstate was closed for almost 4.5 hours on Saturday morning.

The FHP said the head-on crash happened around 3:45 a.m. Both the Chevy HHR and Ford Four Drive involved in the crash caught on fire after colliding.

The Chevy was traveling southbound in the northbound center lane of I-75 just south of University Parkway, according to a FHP release.

The FHP identified Joseph Wolanin as the driver of the Ford killed in Saturday's crash. Wolanin was 46.
