Hillsborough deputies: Apartment building 'total loss' due to fire

The apartment complex is located in the southwest corner of 50th St. and Puritan Rd. According to deputies, an entire building is a 'total loss' following the fire, but Hillsborough County Fire Rescue has since contained the fire.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- Hillsborough County deputies responded to reports of a fire at an apartment complex in Tampa Saturday afternoon.

The apartment complex, Puritan Place Apartment Homes, is located in the southwest corner of 50th St. and Puritan Rd. According to deputies, an entire building is a 'total loss' following the fire, but Hillsborough County Fire Rescue has since contained the fire and kept it from spreading to other buildings.

The fire reportedly started around 4:30 p.m. The building that caught fire had eight units.

The residents of the building and a separate building were evacuated and there have been no reported injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the scene and the cause of the fire.
