HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested an 18-year-old Tennessee man suspected of sexually battering a 5-year-old girl.
Justin Bowen and his parents traveled from Hendersonville, Tennessee, to Florida to visit people they knew in February, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said Bowen and the girl were left alone inside a home for about 10-15 minutes while the girl’s parents went to check the mail and talk with neighbors. Bowen then sexually battered the girl, according to the sheriff’s office.
The girl told a family member, who called the sheriff’s office.
Bowen refused to cooperate with investigations when he returned to Tennessee, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives gathered evidence to obtain a warrant for Bowen’s arrest.
Bowen turned himself in to the Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies. Authorities booked Bowen into the Hillsborough County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
