Marc Levene, 56, is charged with keeping the explosives in a shed and a storage unit.

A Sarasota man was indicted Thursday after he was found storing 2 tons of explosives, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

A federal grand jury indicted Marc Jason Levene 56, with three counts of possessing explosives as a convicted felon, two counts of improper storage of explosive materials, and one count of possessing ammunition as a convicted felon. Each possession charge could bring a maximum of 10 years in prison, and each storage charge could bring a year in prison.

The indictment said Levene had approximately 4,362 pounds of quick match and 858 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition in a shed in his yard and a commercial storage unit.

Law enforcement seized the materials last week.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations
