Sydney Seau to be interviewed on stage at father's HOF induction

Junior Seau’s daughter, Sydney, will be able to speak onstage at her father’s Pro Football Hall of Fame induction, after all — but she will not be giving a full induction speech.

According to a report from FOX Sports, Sydney will be allowed to participate in an on-stage interview after the unveiling of Seau’s bust. Seau’s three sons will also be able to participate in the unveiling.

Pro Football Hall of Fame president David Baker told FOX Sports:

“Our goal was to try and keep our policy but also show some compassion and understanding. Through all the conversations, Sydney has always been great. She will have the opportunity to say whatever she wants to say but we will still maintain our (posthumous induction) policy. We want this to be a great day for Sydney and her family. Should she choose not to speak afterward, that should be OK.”

Previously, Sydney was scheduled to present her father, but her comments were to be limited to a video played during the enshrinement, following a posthumous induction policy the Hall of Fame adopted in 2010.

Now, although Sydney will speak onstage, the HOF will still maintain its policy of not letting others give full speeches for deceased inductees.
